Well there you go your very own jigsaw worth 88p.  I'm sure its old news, but I hadn't seen the final designs.  what do we reckon then?

I got one of the new pennies in my change the other day and assumed at first that I'd been given some foreign coin by mistake...

First impressions not good, but maybe I'll warm to them.

well I'll wait until I see them in real life, but my first thought was why did each coin not have aa proper picture on it? The design is very C21st with an overall picture made up of parts, but individually they look a bit odd. The other point I've seen made is that there is no numerical digit eg "5p", its just "Five Pence", not very considerate to visitors to our fine nation.

Good point there, that is a bit pants.

Kinda strange, mixed feelings about them. I had no idea the coins had been given a makeover.
I like the concept, and the individual designs are striking, but I like that on the old coins, each one had a separate identity.

I wonder if they'll still be doing special editions of the £1 and the 50p ?

The problem with special editions is that they would break up the big picture of the sheild.

Nice idea, but a bit gimmicky. They look good together but I bet they look rubbish individually.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any of them yet. But they're nice enough.
